Most orthodontists wait until problems appear. We guide growth early—improving breathing, creating space naturally, and preventing extractions before they’re ever needed.

Most parents are advised to wait until age 12, but the reality is by age 6–8, the airway, jaw, and facial structures are already setting their long-term path. The early signs you see now aren’t random.
Mouth breathing or snoring
Crowded or overlapping teeth
Restless sleep or grinding
“No space” for incoming adult teeth
Waiting often closes the window for natural correction, leading to extractions, braces, or longer treatments later. Early guidance isn’t about doing more. It’s about doing the right thing at the right time - while your child’s development is still flexible.
Most orthodontic care takes a “mechanic” approach: wait for problems, then push, pull, and fix teeth into place. It’s reactive, forceful, and often involves braces, extractions, or long, uncomfortable treatments.
Dr. Jenny Yoo takes a different approach—the gardener’s approach.
A gardener doesn’t force growth. They create the right conditions early, guide development gently, and prevent problems before they begin.
Support natural jaw expansion instead of removing teeth.
Improve airway health and breathing patterns.
Guide facial development in a gentle, child-friendly way.
Reduce future treatment time by up to 30%.
This is proactive, root-cause orthodontics—not just straightening teeth, but guiding healthy growth.

No. Ages 6–12 are ideal because growth is easiest to guide during this window.
Most do. Aligners feel comfortable, easy to manage, and give kids a sense of ownership.
Insurance covers reactive treatment. This is preventative care designed to avoid bigger issues later.
It’s cleaner, more comfortable, and often works 30% faster—without brackets or wires.
We evaluate jaw, airway, and growth patterns, then explain clear next steps based on your child’s needs.
Dr. Gao In The Heart of Westwood is a Top 1%
Invisalign Provider Worldwide!

Invisalign are a series of clear, removable and comfortable trays that move your teeth little by little like braces. Invisalign aligners are removable and highly aesthetic which are a great option for adults and teens. Oral hygiene is less of a hassle since they are removed for eating, drinking, brushing and flossing. The aligners are custom made to each person and the outcome can be visualized from the beginning of treatment.
